The Story
I don't know if these cookies are really "German" but it is the name on the family recipe. However, when we were kids, we always called them "Mom's crack cookies" (crack is a street name for cocaine) No, there is NO cocaine or any drug in these cookies. We simply called them this because they were SO good we would eat them all up if our mom didn't hide them. We were addicted. TIP: don't over-bake these. They are better when they're a little bit chewy, not crunchy. You might have to experiment to find the perfect timing for your oven and bakeware.
