The Story
A childhood favorite. A warm, chewy snickerdoodle is the perfect after-school treat. There is quite a lot of sugar in these, so feel free to experiment with sugar alternatives, and let me know what works for you!
Ingredients
- 1 cup (225g) butter
- 1 1/2 (300g) cups sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 3/4 (350g) cups flour
- 2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 3 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Mix butter, 1 1/2 cups sugar and eggs thoroughly in a large bowl.
- Combine flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt in a separate bowl.
- Blend dry ingredients into butter mixture.
- Chill dough and an ungreased cookie sheet for about 10-15 minutes in the fridge.
- Meanwhile, mix 3 tablespoons sugar, and 3 teaspoons cinnamon in a small bowl.
- Scoop 1 inch globs of dough into the sugar/cinnamon mixture.
- Coat by gently rolling balls of dough in the sugar mixture.
- Place on the chilled, ungreased cookie sheet, and bake 10 minutes.
- Remove from pan immediately and cool on rack.
